Picking Rosie was such a late night gogogo sort of decision that I didn't really think too hard on it. But when I decided to rejoin the game I really did try to understand all the things that might have happened to her when I wasn't paying attention. It was a lovely opportunity to switch things up and add a few more breaks to my toys. Also because Transformers 3.

1. Jennifer Connelly was seriously considered as a face for an Ophelia who had a less than super special awesome experience away. One of her biggest sticking points, the terror of Nina, is this idea of blinking and growing older into a life you're missing. This Ophelia would have acknowledged her new look and would have been somewhat horrified. "Oh! I'm sorry. I'm reallyverytrulydeeplymadly sorry. We were hurt. Hurt really badly and we didn't want to die and no one was using this one. She was already empty against machines that went beep. We can play guitar now." Eventually I decided it was the sort of unpleasantness I'd rather save up.

2. Carmen Solomons is very pretty. A slightly younger Ophelia. A wisp of a thing. However she has very few ordinary or smiling looks available to chose from and far too many where it looks like she's contemplating eating your spine. There's a music video out there where she's playing a murder victim and she still looks fierce. Too much Nina and not enough Ophelia.

3. Rachel Hurd-Wood has the opposite problem. If she were only responsible for baby faced, forgetful, and earnest Ophelia I would have grabbed her face like it was going out of style. I love her. But I've never seen a pic of her where I believed she could burn the world down or ooze out sexuality with the blood in her teeth. Too much Ophelia without a hint of Nina behind her eyes.

Someday, all the pretty ladies. Someday.

1. Beyonce was my first pick as I was still trying to ease the character. She's fun and sensual and a good time is guaranteed by all. But she's too much of a HBIC for the Candy I ended up with. And I couldn't picture her internal mess.

2. Anne Hathaway at the right sort of humor. I love her face. I love how talented she is and the way she conveys that. I eventually decided against her because of the effort she was making. She had plenty where she looks natural but the second you start removing clothes it was like: done. Also Anne Hathaway snark comes off too smart.

3. ZOOOOOOOEY. idk. If anyone needs an adorably merchant to get her stab on I will haul out Zooey.

Armand gets complicated. For lo his character concept when through the wash a time or two.

1. Clint Eastwood would have been a grumpier american Armand. He wouldn't have approved of most modern Library practices and he wishes these darn kids would have gotten off of his journal. His fondness for Clyde would have been decidedly more subtle.

2. Betty White Armand was considered but quickly abandoned. Betty White is clearly a Merchant mixed with Nanny Ogg. Making her a Librarian of any sort would be wrong.

3. Cary Grant for lo if you are going to be a ghost you might as well work it.
